 'snow' competition result!

the 'snow' themed competition has now completed.  the winner with a photo called paradise in the snow was dave warren.  well done dave on his first hoyland photos win - great photo, great treatment - dave wins a super book called 'stars and cars' - a great book with some excellent photos of stars with (you guessed it) their cars... see all the entries HERE.  thanks to everyone who entered - by far the biggest entry yet for a competition!  and also well done everyone for the many commended shots as well.

 'colour' competition result

another fantastic set of entries in the feb 'colour' competition. the winner was judged independently this month by trevor armstrong of hoyland.  he announced 'fruit shop' by justlinda as the winner, and also commended a couple of others.  see full details and all entries HERE.  well done justlinda, she wins a book called photography.

march competition now open - see your photo in print!

'hoyland lowe stand' is the theme of this months competition.  you can produce an artistic view, an honest and pure view or any aspect of the place as long as it relates to hoyland lowe stand and it is all your own work.  this months competition is also to highlight again the work of the 'friends of hoyland stand' which hoyland photos is working closely with.  as a special prize, the winner (and perhaps a couple of others) will receive the honour of seeing their photo in print as part of the 2010 calendar the friends will produce later this year, with your name against the photo.  i think this is a teriffic prize.  send your entries to photography@fastmail.co.uk no later than easter sunday - that is sunday 12th april. i will get someone from the friends committe to judge the winner. good luck - see more details and any entries already submitted HERE.

 new hoyland photos shop

another idea being trialed is a shop on the hoyland photos site - at this stage this is not much more than a front door to amazon shopping, but with selected items that may be of interest or recommended from a photography point of view.  you may find this a more convenient place to see good prices on certain goods - especially useful perhaps if you are in the mine field of buying memory cards etc...  let me know what you think, and whether you know of any good you've had that you would recommend for others to look at or buy...

 further website changes

there has been some further tidying of the website... and i also may be looking to remove the forum in the next month or two as it doesn't seem to get much traffic and conversation going.  any strong objections or comments on this, please let me know.

 pleas for info / assistance

a few enquiries this month you might be able to help with...

I'm looking for a man, that my husband and I lost contact with many years ago.
The man in question is Mr Tim Griffis/griffiths, only info i can give is Tim has always been a truck driver and was last known to be living in Hoyland.
I am trying to track him for a reunion, and would appriciate if anyone has any information that may help me"
