march 2009 competition - "hoyland lowe stand"

the theme for this competition was 'hoyland lowe stand' and this attracted very good interest especially as the winner is guaranteed a place in the 2010 friends of hoyland lowe stand calendar.

this is primarily to support a local group (the friends of hoyland lowe stand) that is trying to preserve and ultimately restore the local monument.  those of you that know it well, will know it is in somewhat of a run down state.

if you haven't done so recently, go and visit hoyland lowe stand (just off hawshaw lane, up a footpath next to St Peters church cemetary - opposite St Peters church, also accessible via the other end of the footpath on upper hoyland road).

i am please to announce that the winner - chosen by Steve Sylvester - chair of the friends of hoyland lowe stand - is dave warren with his foggy and atmospheric picture of the stand - dave wins small prize (a set of hoyland lowe stand postcards, badges and a keyring) as well as the calendar entry! well done dave.  commended photos also go this time to brian yarham and justlinda as shown below.

see more on the stand here at the friends website - http://www.lowe-stand.org.uk/
