JANUARY 2010 COMP WINNER IS JANET SAXTON!
the first competition of 2010 was won by JANET SAXTON with her lovely wintry shot called ACROSS TO ST PETERS - well done janet on her second win! Also commended was winter wonderland by justlinda. well done to them and all that entered.  see these and all the entries HERE.

CHRISTMAS 2009 COMP WINNER IS JUSTLINDA!
the christmas competition was won by JUSTLINDA with her lovely wintry shot of a couple of trees called WINTER TREES - well done! Also commended were shots from brian ellis, dave warren and trevor armstrong - well done to them and all that entered.

NOV/DEC COMP WINNER IS JANET SAXTON!

NEW KIRK BALK GALLERY ADDED

NEW GALLERY!
a new gallery is now in place featuring photos taken on the hoyland photos organised visits.  this idea was suggested by a hoyland photos member and seeks to take a group of enthusiastic 'photographers' on visits - this first visit was to wentworth village.  the gallery will build as the photos roll in!  look out for the next visit and join us.  see the submitted photos HERE

GARDEN COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED
andrew fairclough won the april/may competition themed 'garden'.  his picture of a rose with rain drops on won despite a great level of entries.  well done andrew who wins a small prize.  also commended were shots from andy green, justlinda, brian yarham and terry g. see HERE for all details and pictures of all entries.

a new gallery commemorating the floods of 2007 is now open - see HERE,  I am looking for your photos of the floods too - please send your submissions to photography@fastmail.co.uk and they will be displayed in the gallery.

LOWE STAND COMP WINNER ANNOUNCED
the winner of the lowe stand competition is dave warren with his atmospheric lowe stand fog shot. dave wins the right to see his picture in the friends of hoyland lowe stand 2010 calendar being produced later this year - well done dave.  there were also commended shots from brian yarham and justlinda. see these and all the other entries HERE.

HOYLAND PHOTOS SHOP
another idea being trialed on this site is a shop - at this stage this is no more than a front door to amazon shopping, but will later expand with other ideas... the shop has selected items that may be of interest or recommended from a photography point of view.  you may find this a more convenient place to see good prices on certain goods - especially useful perhaps if you are in the mine field of buying memory cards etc...  let me know what you think, and whether you know of any good you've had that you would recommend for others to look at or buy... see HERE for shop pages

WEBSITE CHANGES WWW.HOYLANDPHOTOS.CO.UK
you may have noticed the menu on the right and some of the looks of the site has altered - this is to make the site easier to navigate and control/update.  the main changes are as follows:-

menu changes - the menu has been shortened for ease of finding things - the area/village galleries are not now individually listed but are in the hoyland and beyond section.  the competitions and newsletters have also been reduced and old newsletters and competitions can be linked to from the main newsletters and competition pages.

news - the news was crammed onto the home page, but is now spread out on its own latest news page - still the same, with just the news headlines now on the home page.

some further changes are still to be made, they will follow shortly.
